Day 1
13.05.2012 22:17
We are well into the competition-season. Arnulf and Martin has been preparing for Eskilstuna Open. A medium size international competition with 38 entries.
In this catalouge we will post some short stories and updates from the competitions, here starting with day 1.
Arnulf (Club Class) was given a 286km racing task and made it more or less to the last waypoint. At this point, there was a large "blue hole" without thermals which even the best pilots had a struggle to get past. For Arnulf, this resulted in an outlanding. Up to this point, he had flown 160km of the task.
Marin (Standard Class) was given a 316km racing task. He made it trough with the modest speed of 67,3km/h. The conditions were okay, but heavy winds made things complicated.
Both Martin and Arnulf was satisfied with the day and they were looking good until it was time to enjoy the results.
It turns out Martin and Arnulf have both been flying into controlled airspace by 10 meters before start. Gliding Competitions have no mercy for these kinds of violations and they were both scored by 0 points. This was of course a pity.
